Philadelphian in NYC vol. 3

About Philadelphian in NYC This research series is hosted by our researcher, Ms. Shellenberger, who joined JLGC in October 2025. She is a proud Philadelphian, so the title is inspired by her deep love toward Philly. Ms. Shellenberger is conducting a wide variety of research projects upon requests from Japanese municipalities, while also supporting Japanese staff with their international objectives, cooperating with our senior researcher Mr. Gillam. The research series, “Philadelphian in NYC,” is independently carried out by her to compile insights and information about New York City government from her perspective, with the aim of benefiting Japanese municipalities.

「さくら祭り―ジャパニーズストリートフェスティバル」でブース出展

　クレアニューヨーク事務所は、４月１５日と１６日にワシントンＤＣで開催された「さくら祭り－ジャパニーズストリートフェスティバル」で、昨年に続きブースを出展した。このイベントは、毎年３月から４月にかけてワシントンＤＣで開催される「Ｎａｔｉｏｎａｌ　Ｃｈｅｒｒｙ　Ｂｌｏｓｓｏｍ　Ｆｅｓｔｉｖａｌ」の最終週に、連邦議会議事堂から延びるペンシルベニア・アベニューの３番～７番通りを封鎖して行われている。 　会場に設置された四つのステージでは、空手や剣道といった日本武道や、太鼓や踊りなどの各種パフォーマンスが披露され、ストリートではブースでの物販や、日本食品の試食・試飲などが行われた。クレアブースでは、日本の自治体のプロモーション資料を立ち寄った来場者に配布した。 　２０２２年は新型コロナウイルスの影響で外国人観光客が日本に入国できなかったため、来場者から「いつ入国制限が解除されるのか」と質問されることが多かったが、今回は日本への旅行の時期や訪問先が具体的に決まっている人が多く見られた。クレアブースを出展したＢｅｙｏｎｄ　Ｔｏｋｙｏエリアでは、日本政府観光局（ＪＮＴＯ）、沖縄県ワシントン事務所なども出展しており、それぞれ旅行先としての日本の魅力を熱心にＰＲしていた。 ［会場の様子］ ［クレアブースで記念撮影する来場者］
