In 2019, the Japan Local Government Center celebrated its 30th anniversary of being in North America. We created a commemorative video to summarize the main projects and achievements of the past 30 years and to express our gratitude for the many contributions to our office by the various governmental organizations in the United States and Canada over the years.
This video features congratulatory messages received from the Honorable Shinji Hirai, Governor of Tottori Prefecture, President of the Japan National Governors’ Association and Chairman of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), who also served as our Executive Director in New York from 2006 to 2007, as well as from JETAA Country Representatives from the countries under our jurisdiction, the United States, Canada, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, and past participants of the CLAIR Fellowship Programme.
The video also includes a slide show of the office’s 30-year history, allowing viewers to trace the office’s evolution over the years.
Today, building on its more than 30 years in North America, the Japan Local Government Center continues its mission as part of an ambitious experiment undertaken by the prefecture and local governments of Japan to expand their world-view, promote Japan’s sub-national governments and exchange what’s best in public administration with their counterparts all over the world.
